My name is Randy Bates, and I believe I have the required experience and passion to represent the citizens of the 139th District. I have been married to my wife, Glenda, for over 32 years, and we have raised three wonderful children.
I earned a degree from the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University and a Law Degree from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University.
I am founder and partner at the Law Firm of Bates & Coleman. We concentrate in public finance. In 2014, we ranked in the top five in the state of Texas of all public finance law firms.
For more than 20 years, I served on the board of trustees of the Lone Star College System and was Board Chair for seven years. As Board Chair, I led the effort to build a campus in District 139 between Carver and Eisenhower High Schools. This campus is three in one: one-third traditional community college, one-third work force development and one-third early college.
I served as the 32nd Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Currently, I serve as president of the Oak Forest Area Democrats. Under my leadership, the organization has held voter registration drives, and provides helpful education to Democrats so they can make informed voting decisions.
